Mental Health: Mind Matters exhibit opens conversations

New exhibit at Fort Collins Museum of Discovery opens conversations around mental health disorders

“A new exhibit at the Fort Collins Museum of Discovery is shedding some much-needed light on mental illness, treatment options and the effects it has on individuals, families and our community. The “Mental Health: Mind Matters” exhibit opened in early October, offering visitors a variety of hands-on, interactive features that include videos, games and craft projects.”

Now more than ever, we need to have conversations around mental health and this exhibit helps build awareness and understanding around several mental health disorders.

“I think helping people have a space to talk about mental health in a safe place and really reduce stigma and say, ‘It’s ok to talk about this and it’s ok to seek help,’ is why an exhibit like this is so important,” said Michael Allen, CEO of SummitStone Health Partners Crisis Stabilization Unit and Behavioral Health Urgent Care. “People recover from this everyday. Things are starting to get better because we are talking about it and it is getting more normalized, but we still have a long way to go.”
